• There are a lot of bugs near my garden should I be concerned?
Not necessarily. Because organic gardens avoid synthetic pesticides and often grow a diverse mix of plants, they attract beneficial insects like bees, butterflies, and even hummingbirds. This actually supports biodiversity.
• Is Locally grown food better for the environment?
Yes! Nearby garden drastically reduces "food miles" (the distance food travels to reach your plate). This generally cuts down on fuel use and carbon emissions while delivering fresher, more nutrient dense produce.
• How do organic urban gardens fertilize their plants without chemicals?
Most urban gardeners use compost which is a natural fertilizer made from kitchen scraps and yard waste. Compost enriches the soil, reduces landfill waste, and promotes healthy plant growth.
• Is it possible to grow a full meal on a balcony or patio?
Absolutely. Many gardeners grow salad greens, herbs, tomatoes, peppers, and even root vegetables like carrots and radishes in containers enough to create a fresh, homegrown meal.
• Can gardening encourage kids to eat more vegetables or help build community?
Yes, Both! Studies show that children who grow their own fruits and vegetables are more likely to try—and enjoy—healthy foods. Gardening teaches them where food comes from and builds lifelong habits. Community gardens bring people together, encouraging cooperation, knowledge sharing, and stronger neighborhood ties. They often become educational and cultural gathering spaces.
• How can we support The Agrarian Society?
First, thank you! We appreciate you. Share our work with others, whether talking about our projects or posting us on your socials media accounts, it all helps. Other ways to support include purchasing produce from the project, donating funds or resources, and sharing our mission at community events. You can also offer professional skills such as agricultural expertise, marketing, or advertising and help connect the Society to talent and funding opportunities, global networks, or local markets.
Additionally, advocating for sustainable practices, green spaces, food sovereignty, and community empowerment further amplifies our impact. Whether through direct involvement, education, or collaboration, your support helps grow resilient, community driven food systems worldwide.
Have a wonderful day!
